Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is offering a challenging and rewarding career as Northrop Grumman's Counter Hypersonics (CHS) Campaign Director
This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Missile Defense Systems (MDS), and will work with technical leadership in developing advanced technologies for maturation of technologies to sense, track and engage Hypersonic missiles as part of the Missile Defense System (MDS). The CHS Architect scope will cover the entire 'kill chain' from left-of-launch through Post-Intercept-Assessment (PIA) including technologies for space-based architectures, sensors, communication, Command & Control (C2), kinetic & non-kinetic effectors, and modeling and simulation of the Hypersonic Threat.
Responsible for technical coordination across the NGC Enterprise, this position will provide technical leadership and serve as interface for our 4 sectors in development of technical solutions to defeat hypersonic threats.
Responsible for defining technical strategies, solution trade spaces, and cross-functional coordination across the enterprise to propose/advocate for solutions to sense, track and negate the Hypersonic threat.
Interface regularly with the Business Development, Strategy entities within the CHS campaign as well as the MDS CTO.
Support the development of technical strategies and artifacts for responses to customer solicitations (BAAs, RFIs, RFPs) in support of the Missile Defense Business Solutions Business Unit.
Developing and leading trade study analyses in conjunction with a conceptual design team for countering the Hypersonic threat.
Supporting Business Development by applying technical expertise developing marketing materials for customer engagement.
Translating requirements created by functional analysts into the architecture and describing it through architecture design artifacts.
Identifying key hypersonic and counter-hypersonic technologies and developing technology roadmaps.
Supporting the expansion of a Hypersonics Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities across the kill chain.
Remaining abreast of industry and adversary trends in offensive hypersonic and counter hypersonic technologies.
Developing and presenting briefings within to senior technical managers within Northrop Grumman, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Space Development Agency (SDA).
Performing as a Responsible Engineer to provide technical oversight and management for requirements engineers tasked with the development and documentation of functional, performance, and interface concepts and requirements in a model-based systems engineering environment.
Reducing design cycle time and development costs for Counter Hypersonic technologies.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills in the following topics:
5 Years of related experience with a BS Degree (M.S. and/or PhD. Desired); 3 years with Masters; 0 with PHD
Active Secret Clearance
Familiar with systems and components of ballistic missile defense or air defense systems.
Knowledge of physics of hypersonic flight dynamics sufficient to exploit the vulnerabilities of hypersonic vehicles to enable the development of technologies for defeating them while inflight.
Understanding of behaviors of ballistic threats and the requirements on interceptors and sensors to defeat them.
Knowledge/expertise on both sides of the Systems Engineering V to develop effective system-of-system level requirements.
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills including briefing executive level management and other internal and external stakeholders.
Proven experience in conducting trades, developing architectures, use cases and deriving requirements.
Demonstrated successful leadership of multi-function teams that led to successful concept development.
Established relationships in the missile defense community including the hypersonics technical community.
An applicable advanced technical degree (MS/PhD; Majors: Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics General)
