Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Manager 1. This position will be located at Hill AFB, UT and will support the Ground Subsystems Support Contract (GSSC) program.
What you'll get to do:
People leadership for a mechanical engineering organization, to include performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group
Provide ownership of and direction to the processes used by the group
Provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
Support department initiatives, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, and NCTA project leadership
Lead a diverse team of engineers performing project development, technical requirements review, system support, planning and sustainment for a diverse set of products in the missile, air and space domains.
Responsible for the strategic implementation of skills and labor mix; employee development; mentoring; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations to ensure successful task completion and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities also include horizontal integration of best practices across the organization; maintaining cognizance over technical activities; and ensuring execution of project statement of work and baselines.

This position may have a 9/80 work schedule available. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You'll bring these qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience supporting modernization, maintenance, design and analysis of mechanical systems
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
These qualifications would be nice to have:
Active Secret Security Clearance or higher
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
3+ years of ICBM experience
5+ years' hands-on experience supporting modernization of ICBM infrastructure including aerospace vehicle ground systems/subsystem and ground support equipment design and analysis
2+ years of experience providing technical leadership of an engineering team
Thorough knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ASME and MIL-STDs)
