Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems Division designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
The Innovation Systems Space Systems Group is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Thermal Engineer to assist an experienced team in Gilbert, AZ.
Candidate responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
Apply technical principles, theories and concepts to the planning analysis, design and testing of satellite/spacecraft thermal control systems
Responsible for performing thermal analysis and providing solutions to a variety of thermal related technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines
Document thermal analyses and designs,
Review drawings for thermal design hardware content
Report analysis results and design specifics to internal management and external customers when necessary.
Work and execute moderately complex professional tasks under general supervision and with technical oversight.
This position can be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer (level 3)
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI Clearance with SSBI
Able to support occasional travel, 2nd/3rd shift and/or extended work week as required for Integration and/or Test support.
Mechanical/Thermal Engineer level 2: Bachelor's degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineer, Math or related area (Mechanical Engineering or Degrees with a focus Thermal/Heat Transfer Analysis highly preferred) and 2+ years of experience or Master's Degree and 0+ year
Principal Mechanical/Thermal Engineer level 3: Bachelor's degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineer, Math or related area (Mechanical Engineering or Degrees with a focus in Thermal/Heat Transfer Analysis highly preferred) and 5+ years of experience or Master's Degree and 3+ years
Experience using thermal analysis tools (SINDA/G, SINDA/FLUENT, TSS, Thermal Desktop)
Prior experience with NASA spacecraft programs and processes
Detail-oriented and have excellent verbal and written communications skills
Professional work experience relating to analysis and design of spacecraft thermal control systems and components
An active in-scope Top Secret Clearance with SSBI
