Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) has an opportunity for an experienced Flight Assurance Manager 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Gilbert, AZ. The individual will promote professional development of the Flight Assurance workforce and foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement. The Flight Assurance Manager will also support individual National Space and Security (NSS), Civil and Commercial Satellite (CCS) program needs to ensure all requirements are met with on-time delivery and first time quality.

As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Gilbert site, the position provides strategic leadership, collaborative solutions and influences processes and outcomes. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success leading multi-disciplined organizations interfacing with senior management and customers, and controlling budgets while achieving a high level of employee engagement and inclusion. The position requires a solution based orientation, unwavering ethics and values, and the demonstrated ability to be a trusted partner. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record of rapid prototyping, solving complex problems through systematic and objective evaluation of information and data resulting in effective communication, championing, and implementation of change with a diverse set of internal and external customers and suppliers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources and actions to ensure mission assurance. Implement the Division QMS and continuous improvement activity while engaging across and up for lessons learned and other improvement opportunities.

  • Assesses needs for Flight Assurance support of programs and hires and trains personnel to ensure programs are properly staffed.

  • Promotes the professional development of the Flight Assurance workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

  • Maintains the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics.

  • Provides clear assignments, helps employees connect their efforts to the larger goals of the organization, creates an inclusive work environment characterized by mutual respect and the valuing of differences, and builds a culture that motivates employees to their highest levels of performance.

  • Maintains close engagement with the Supplier Quality organization to drive improvements from key suppliers.

  • Frequent interface with the Northrop Grumman senior management and customer representatives.

  • Ensures MA engagement in pre-proposal and proposal phases of the BAP or earlier.

  • Advocate and implement continuous improvement opportunities, providing leadership and guidance in identifying and executing tasks to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of program performance.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or STEM field

  • 7 years minimum of industry experience in one or more areas of: Safety and Mission Assurance; Systems, Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; Production / Manufacturing; and / or Quality Engineering / Assurance

  • Experience managing a department, function or team

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100 Quality Management Systems

  • Experience with a Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication, leadership, and mentoring skills and confidence to brief upper management on a regular basis

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret DoD clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance

  • Experience working as a Flight / Mission Assurance Manager on a NASA and / or DoD program.

  • Aerospace experience, in particular working on satellites, payloads, launch vehicles and / or other space flight hardware

  • Familiar with the principles of Agile Management

  • Familiar with TIPQA, Windchill and / or CostpointFamiliar with Earned Value Management (EVM)
