PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under close supervision, performs routine technical functions related to the support of development engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, and assembly of electronics and Electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment.

  • Applications may include analog, digital and/or video type circuits and logic systems. Guidance is readily available from superiors. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks.

  • Performs routine operational tests and fault isolation on development systems and equipment to ensure conformance with design specifications.

  • Diagnoses and isolates malfunctions down to component level.

  • Conducts defined engineering tests and collects data as assigned.

  • Utilizes routine development or diagnostic equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.

  • Normally assigned in area such as development, engineering, test equipment design, or the like.

  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of workmanship on work products.

  • Considerable knowledge of assigned program and basic understanding of test flow for all products in I&T.

  • Beginner understanding of engineering test activities, including hardware, software, and common tools.

  • Advanced understanding of Clean room operations, and the handling flight and non-flight hardware.

  • Frequent user of MES, Assetsmart, TipQA, Visio, Excel to modify documentation.

Supervision - Limited supervision. No verbal corrections needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments. May assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower-level employees.

Typical Tasks and Duties - Duties & tasks are varied and moderately complex. Resolves most questions and problems and refers complex questions to higher levels.

  • Lead test configuration set up activities, review procedures and verify team members are aware of common mistake areas

  • Setup, troubleshoot, and repair advanced test equipment to include EGSE racks and desktop test equipment

  • Assists engineering in the development of cable drawings and test configuration design.

  • Ability to coordinate execution of other department requirements prior to proceeding in test

  • Extensive knowledge of testing events and ability to verify completion of not only the event but also the paperwork associated with the event.

  • Advanced understanding of Test Operator responsibilities for both Maestro and AstroRT environments. Ability to navigate scripts safely during testing events

Shift Work - This position requires the flexibility to work alternate shifts (2nd shift and 3rd shift) and potentially weekend shifts depending on test event schedules. Advanced notice of shift change will be provided when the needs arise. Shift differential pay and overtime is available in these situations.

Travel - This position could require up to 25% travel domestically.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Highschool Diploma with Electronics training equivalent to 4 years technical trade school/work history or 6 years military technical experience

  • Electronic skills (AC/DC/resistance measurements)

  • Aerospace equipment experience

  • Harness Build/Soldering experience

  • Experienced in Calibration and Preventative Maintenance of Electronic Equipment

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace/Satellite Integration and Test experience

  • 8 years of Electronics Technician experience either in civilian work force or military positions

  • Able to demonstrate ability troubleshoot and repair support equipment

  • Familiar with voltage circuitry

  • Ability to generate and support disposition of discrepancy documentation

  • Ability to adhere to EGSE processes, procedures and protocols

  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge (Word and Excel)

  • Ability to work in a versatile environment, performing parallel tasks and duties

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply information

  • Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Good Mechanical aptitude for cross functional assignments

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • DoD TS/SCI Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

Salary Range: $33 - $38

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
