Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician 3/4 - Instron Testing for our Elkton, Maryland location.
The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Job Responsibilities
Instron testing (stress/strain/modulus/compression) and use of data acquisition software (Bluehill, Trapezium, etc)
Preparation of various samples
Draws samples of chemicals from the field for testing
Perform basic in-process and Analytical test in the Quality Control Laboratory
Prepare reports and submit them to the area supervisor or Lead
This requisition may be filled at either a Laboratory Technician 3 or a Laboratory Technician level 4 depending upon demonstrated experience, education, and competency.
Basic Qualifications Laboratory Technician 3
High School Diploma or equivalent
A combination of 4 or more years of experience with mechanical testing and/or education
Must have knowledge of mechanical property testing equipment (Instron or equivalent equipment) and knowledge of data acquisition software (Bluehill software or equivalent)
At least one year of analytical testing in any of the below;
Karl fisher moisture determination
pH
specific gravity
acid/base titration (colorimetric)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to multi-task
Must be able to work overtime
Must be a US citizen
Basic Qualifications Laboratory Technician 4
High School Diploma or equivalent
A combination of 6 or more years of additional education and/or related experience
Knowledge of mechanical property testing equipment (Instron or equivalent equipment) and knowledge of data acquisition software (Bluehill software or equivalent).
At least one year of analytical testing in any of the below;
Karl fisher moisture determination
pH
specific gravity
acid/base titration (colorimetric)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
Ability to multi-task
Must be able to work overtime
Must be a US citizen
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates Degree or higher in physical science
This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor
Salary Range: $49,400 - $82,400
Salary Range 2: $58,800 - $98,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
