Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systemslocated in El Segundo, CA has an opening for a Structural Design Engineer5. The selected candidate will be a Senior Building Block CompositesStructural Design engineer responsible with designing and developing structuraltest articles of composite joints and full scale composite structures togenerate material and joint allowables in support of a variety of NGC airframeprograms. Candidate will work closely with stress, manufacturing, materials andprocesses and test to develop design requirements, define structural loadpaths, develop CAD models and prepare engineering drawings to fabricatestructural test articles.

* Essential Functions: *

  • Provide close integration andoversight of Suppliers to verify/validate structural design requirements andensure qualification/certification deliverables meet requirements

  • Design and fabrication of primaryaircraft composite structures for military or commercial aircraft applications

  • Utilize NX10 and FiberSim to developjoint designs of composites structures, create detailed CAD models, drawingsand flat patterns (using Fibersim) to enable Manufacturing to fabricate designconcepts

  • Provide mentoring and technicaloversight of engineering products developed by junior engineers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degreein a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 14 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment OR

  • Masters of Science degree ina STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 12 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment

  • Over 2000 hours using NX 10 andFibersim to generate CAD models and engineering drawings

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoDSecurity Clearance

  • Experience designing composite andmetallic primary and secondary structures

  • Experience presenting results atDesign Reviews

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with layout sizing, andstructural integrity planning and evaluations

  • In-Scope Active DoD Secret SecurityClearance

  • Experience working on Special AccessPrograms

  • Experience working on militaryaircraft

  • Proficiency in the use of theMicrosoft Office software suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to collaborate with Stress,Manufacturing and Test to develop design requirements
