Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. In Vehicle Engineering, we develop manned and unmanned aircraft platforms for all programs in the Aeronautics Systems Sector. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA and will support F/A-18 Post Production Service Life Modification.
We are looking for Engineers with structural engineering experience including static analysis, fatigue analysis, dynamics and loads, stability and thermal analysis. Your day-to-day activities will be to analyze, research and develop structural engineering analysis packages involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product. You will analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling. This opportunity may transition to other programs in the future for staffing requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field with 9 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with 7 years of relevant experience OR a PhD in a STEM field with 4 years of relevant experience.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis.
Experience in Finite Element Modeling, as well as the manipulation of global Finite Element Models to create smaller detail models.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret/Top Secret clearance.
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
Aerospace structural analysis experience using FEMAP and NASTRAN.
Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
Experience with analysis of composite and/or metallic structure and repair methods.
Experience as a Lead Engineer managing a small group of analysts.
Experience with Earned Value Management System.
Analysis experience in a MRB role.
Experience working on military aircraft.
Experience working in a post-production environment.
Experience with durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of aircraft structures.
Salary Range: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
