Northrop Grumman Electromechanical Engineer 3 in East Hartford, Connecticut
The Electromechanical Engineer must have a good understanding of Cable, Harnesses and Interconnect technologies. In addition to providing solutions to a variety of electrical and optical cable and interconnect problems of various complexity, the responsibilities of the Electromechanical Engineer will include;
Selecting commercial products or specifying custom designs to meet optical, electrical, size, weight and reliability requirements
Locating, qualifying, selecting and working with outside suppliers capable of providing products to meet system requirements
Documenting designs by creating detail and assembly CAD drawings, along with parts list and build procedures
Devising and implementing in-house cable and connector verification tests.
Training technicians on proper handling, testing and termination techniques.
Selecting, specifying and purchasing required assembly, termination, inspection and test equipment.
Performing source selection and ordering fiber and electrical cable and cable assemblies and managing deliverable to meet system delivery schedules.
BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years experience in Cable, Harness and Interconnect Design
A wide breadth of knowledge and experience with fiber optic cabling (including patch cords, internal and external environments) and connectors
A wide breadth of knowledge and experience with electrical connectors for internal and external environments, including high density, mil-spec, wire to board, wire to wire, etc.
Detail & assembly drawing experience
Must possess good written communication skills to document work performed
A wide breadth of knowledge and experience with electrical connectors for internal and external environments, including high density, mil-spec, wire to board, wire to wire, etc
Solid Works CAD experience
Hands-on skills for assembly and testing of designs
Active Government Top Secret Clearance or SSBI
