Northrop Grumman Staff Systems Architect/Systems Engineer (TS/SCI w/Polygraph) in Dulles, Virginia

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an experienced System Architect/Systems Engineer to provide full live-cycle systems engineering services for customer infrastructure and applications services. The Staff Systems Architect / Systems Engineer will be a member of a scrum team but will also collaborate with the organization's team of Systems Engineers. Our ideal candidate will develop and/or convert customer requirements into system specifications for infrastructure design, development, test, deployment, and/or enhancement. And use standardized, repeatable methodologies to assess legacy applications for migration into new hosting infrastructure.

This person will also be responsible for designing and engineering infrastructure applications services to utilize principles such as automatic scaling, load balancing, and continuous monitoring. Evaluation of COTS and GOTS, as needed, to determine the best and most efficient way to develop may be required. This position will be based in Dulles, VA.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and coordination of IT infrastructure architecture activities for the team across the project and customer space in conjunction with organizational standards and application requirements.

  • Help develop, maintain and implement the strategic direction for the customer's infrastructure process and technical architectures.

  • Provide expertise regarding the teams and organization's infrastructure architecture to assist the development, maintenance and communication of an enterprise and project framework model and technical architecture.

Qualifications:

What basic qualifications you'll need to have to be considered:

  • An active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, System Engineering, Business or related discipline and 14 years of experience. An additional 4 years in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience in the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions

  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, white papers and designs

  • Experience with all of the following infrastructure principles: fault tolerance, high availability, scalability, capacity planning, backup/recovery, and security

  • Experience monitoring industry trends and directions in technology and tools

  • Experience developing and presenting substantive technical recommendations to senior management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of Systems Architecture/Systems Engineering experience

  • Facilitate the establishment of technical standards through the integration of business drivers and emerging technologies

  • Establish strategic and tactical plans which drive technology solutions instrumental to organization's business objectives

  • Familiarity with hardware / software implementation

  • Experience with Cloud Computing design, build, and integration

  • Experience and training related to computer languages, systems, and technology

  • Scripting capabilities (SCCM, PowerShell, etc.)

  • Citrix experience a plus

  • Security+ or CISSP preferred

  • PMP or equivalent preferred

  • Experience with agile methodology is a plus
