We have an opening for a senior-level RF Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Tactical Space organization. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.
In this role you will:
Perform high-level trade studies and analyses of satellite communications systems architectures, including space and ground segments, in support of program and new business proposals.
Develop RF system performance requirements and flow down to detailed component specifications.
Define antenna coverage, preliminary antenna design characteristics, and specification of antennas.
Lead and oversee the mechanical and electrical design, integration, test, and in-orbit checkout of satellite communication subsystems.
Manage cost, schedule, and technical performance of RF subsystem development.
Present effectively at customer design reviews. Candidate will be expected to have frequent interaction with the customer, as well as with the senior management team in the business group.
Perform vendor survey for RF components and support down-selection and contract negotiation. Provide technical subcontract monitoring.
Working knowledge of RF computer-aided RF design tools (e.g., HFSS, GRASP, Genesys) and analytical packages (e.g., Matlab, Simulink, etc.)
Write specifications and engineering reports as a result of advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities.
Mentor, guide, and advise less-experienced staff

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
14 years of experience with a Bachelors in a STEM degree (preferably Electrical Engineering;) or 12 years of experience with a Masters; or 9 years with a PhD
US citizenship with an active Top Secret clearance
Thorough understanding in the fundamentals of RF microwave system design, digital system design, antenna design, and satellite communications with the ability to generate detailed RF link budgets for digital and analog satellite communication systems
Strong knowledge of the functional performance of RF system components such as transmitters, receivers, transponders, filters, switches, isolators, and antennas
Understand the system architecture tradeoffs at the lower sub-system, system, and system of system level
Preferred Qualifications:
SCI or SSBI preferred
Understand how to derive system requirements and how user CONOPS will impact the overall system
Experience in the circuit design, development, procurement, integration and test of satellite RF components
Hands-on knowledge and experience with RF test equipment including signal generators, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, amplifiers, mixers, power meters, directional couplers etc. with the ability to troubleshoot RF components and subsystems
Highly organized and methodical work approach with strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex problems, in simple language, to external customers and non-engineering managers
Knowledge of a wide variety of satellite communications systems and ground station networks, including commercial, civil, and military systems
Understand the how to develop a RF Communication system that will meet space environmental requirements
Experience with Cost Account Management and Earned Value Management Systems
