Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems Division (TSS) designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems seeks to fill a Manufacturing and Industrial Engineer, in the Engineering function for our Dulles, Virginia location.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

As a manufacturing/industrial engineer, you will be responsible for designing manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

This position may require off hour shift work, weekend work, and extended daily hours to meet production demands.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Operations and Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related STEM degree.

•Must be able to obtain security clearance.

•US citizenship required.

•This position may require weekend work and extended daily hours to meet production demands.

•Occasional short term projects with travel may be required.

Required Experience for level 2:

•2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Space Flight Hardware experience.

•Demonstrated leadership skills.

•Excellent interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication ability.

•Knowledge of TipQA, Windchill, MES, COGNOS, Microsoft Project, Costpoint, and CREOView preferred.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
