Responsible for managing technical personnel assigned to a department (approximate staff size of 25), as well as ensuring qualified and appropriate personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools, etc) are assigned to meet the staffing needs of NSS programs. Includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.

In addition, the candidate will be a working Systems Engineer and/or Technical Leader on programs in the National Security Space business area - the split between direct (programs) and indirect is approximately 75%/25%. Regarding program assignments, the candidate will be responsible for technical, cost, and schedule requirements of pre-proposal efforts, proposal development, design and development, internal/customer design reviews, technical documentation, program implementation, launch and mission operations, and disposal.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have U.S.Citizenship with current or active Top Secret level security clearance.

Bachelors degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Computer Science).

Aerospace Industry experience.

Experience leading a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have U.S. Citizenship with Top Secret/SCI level security clearance.

Masters degree in a technical discipline.

Space domain experience.

Experience as a Systems Engineer.

Experience as a Lead Systems Engineer or Chief Engineer.
