Northrop Grumman Engineer Manufacturing in Dulles, Virginia

Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor Degree in Engineering Technology & two years experience

The qualified Candidate will:

  • Perform various analyses, design, and/or assembly related to manufacturing.

  • Review Designs of electrical-mechanical units. Perform operational or methods analyses related to labor standards and review product/project flow data, equipment, and laborrequirements for use in conducting manufacturing operations

  • Assist in the evaluation of engineeringchanges and/or other specifications requirements and perform as technical liaison with other engineering personnel.

  • Develop and monitor work standards and audit work measurement programs


  • Provide process engineering knowledge along with process design inputs, procedure writeups and any changes that occur. Review Designs of mechanical or electro- mechanical parts.

  • Control manufacturing floor process control. Develop new processes as required byprogram with facilities.

  • Documents aids and controls

  • Support equipment maintenance and troubleshooting new equipment recommendations. Resolve technical issues.

  • Review standards, make required changes. Monitor the manufacturing and assembly process for conformance to specifications.

  • Interface with customers to develop new procedures and process controls.

  • Be able to read and interpret the following documentation: schematic drawing,Word document, Wire list and bill of material.

  • Be able to build 3D and stick figure mockups,build non flight components and brackets using model.

  • Knowledge of 3 D printing a plus

  • Support the manufacturing floor when question and assembly issue arises

  • Be able to work flexible hours and weekends as needed to support Manufacturing.

  • Generate work instructions for harness builds

  • Provide manufacturing input during design reviews

  • Be able to travel to support customers when needed.

  • Knowledge of NASA STD- 8739.4A and J-STD-001 a plus.

  • Harness troubleshoot experience a plus
