Senior Manufacturing Manager - Devens MA
Adaptive Optics Associates - Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Venture, is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Manager to oversee Massachusetts Manufacturing Operations in Devens MA.
AOA Xinetics (AOX) is a leader in developing 'smart' electro-optical and opto-mechanical products. Across its three Business Areas: Xinetics, Image Metrology and Special Programs, AOX designs, manufactures and services optical & photonic solutions world-wide for a wide range of customers that include U.S. Government and Defense, Industrial, Astronomy, Directed Energy and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (i.e. ISR) and Logistics.
AOX excels in a range of applications from adaptive optical systems, deformable mirrors, wavefront sensors, and sub-nanometer precision actuators to photonic systems that acquire and process data in real time for a variety of high-availability applications. AOX market offerings include lightweight passive and active CERAFORMTM and CERAPRINTTM silicon carbide (SiC) optics and precision structures as well as large and small precision opto-mechanical systems supporting electronics and sophisticated controls software.
Overview
The Senior Manufacturing Manager is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and is primarily responsible for the systematic direction of all the individual processes throughout the complete chain of activities to manufacture and deliver high-value market-leading precision devices to customers with an appropriate depth and understanding of how these processes impact the costs associated with operating a business. This position plays a key role in providing the bridge between strategic thinking and planning for the organization and the execution of activities operationally that deliver the required results for both the customer and the company. You will lead operations to maintain and develop a culture of continuous improvement by inspiring and motivating employees to perform at a high level of excellence through positive encouragement and incentive.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in all manufacturing activities including but not limited to planning, scheduling, execution and delivery of the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost
Participate as an active contributor to the company's Senior Leadership Team
Support Human Resource and Talent Acquisition company initiatives
Develop and mentor direct reports to ensure high performance, competence and behavior consistent with the company's values and culture
Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing as well as other areas of the company
Serves as a bridge between the Production Team and Senior Leadership Team while upholding the Strategic Objectives of the organization
Coordinate and direct activities throughout the entire manufacturing process
Coordinate and manage resources including people, material, and capital to meet future and current customer requirements
Must analyze and evaluate risks throughout organizational processes with appropriate contingency planning to mitigate risks
Ability to manage multiple product lines-requires perfect synchronization between the various production units, real-time capacity planning and ability to change schedules as required to meet the production plan
Manage continuous improvement with tools and techniques of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Possess knowledge of MRP or like system particularly planning & scheduling and cost analyses
Practice strategic alignment, is action-driven and results-based
Ensure accountability of results by leading and managing a multi-cultural workforce respectfully
Ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of operations
Ability to build consensus and relationships among functional managers and employees while fostering exchange of ideas
Responsible for organizational development by building, developing, leading and managing a dedicated and competent staff
Represent the company locally, statewide and nationally with the highest level of professionalism
Is knowledgeable and competent in managing budgetary, financial and inventory matters
Provide customer-focused leadership across all functions

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, business or related field
10+ years' Manufacturing Management with Strategic Planning and Performance Management
5+ years' in Manufacturing Management with start-up and small-midsize manufacturing companies
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Quality Management Systems
Lean Six Sigma Certification
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
Ability to travel 10-20% of the time
U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Manufacturing, business or related field
6+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in start-up, small to midsize high-tech production environments
Experience working in Defense/DoD, Aerospace, Semiconductor Fab and/or COTs product development and manufacturing
Experience working with optical products and adaptive optical systems
Physical Requirements:
May provide occasional support to East Hartford facility
Occasional domestic/international travel required up to 10-20% of the time
Ability to walk, stand and sit for extended periods of time and light physical effort required
