Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking an experienced Chemical Handler to work in the Solid and Hazardous Waste Disposal group of Environmental Operations at our Promontory Utah facility.
Role description & Responsibilities:
The Chemical Handler is responsible for:
Collection and proper disposal of solid and liquid hazardous waste.
Operation of waste disposal facilities
Proper handling, storage and packaging of hazardous waste
Creating accurate paperwork and record keeping relating to the above roles
Job Duties:
Performs environmental tasks at Promontory with an emphasis on waste disposal
Ensures compliance with internal and external environmental and DOT requirements
Performs additional roles in reactive and hazardous waste disposal
Performs duties with solid waste collection and transfer
Performs landfill operations and heavy equipment operation
Experience Requirements:
Must have a good understanding of chemicals (acids, bases, oxidizers, flammables, reducers, water-reactives) in a variety of forms (liquids, solids, gases, sludges, slurries) and related regulations.
Heavy equipment operation.
Experience Preferred :
Knowledgeable of environmental regulatory requirements.
Experience with reactive/explosive operations
Experience with chemical handling
Experience with heavy equipment operation
Skills & Qualifications:
HAZWOPER certification, or ability to obtain
Safe operating practices with chemicals and reactive substances.
Ability to work in varied environments
Ability to complete thorough inspections and exact paperwork
Ability to think critically and innovatively
Troubleshooting
Education/Certifications:
4 years of related work experience.
High School education or GED
Class A CDL (HAZMAT Preferred)
Salary Range: $54,400 - $90,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
