Northrop Grumman Principal Procurement Analyst - Space Components in Commerce, California

Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

The Principal Procurement Analyst position sources and purchases machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization. Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. May prepare bid packages.

This position will be located in Commerce, CA .

Job Responsibilities:

  • Purchase of material, parts, and services. Purchases machining items, tools, raw material, parts, goods and services, and supplies necessary for operations

  • Develop and manage RFQ/RFP process, negotiate agreements and manage/administer the contract for a medium to complex sourcing

  • Draft and negotiate strategic agreements

  • Managing performance metrics. Supports Business Unit KPI's and departmental goals

  • Operates in compliance with FAR and DFAR procurement regulations

  • Investigates and analyzes products/services

  • Develops and maintains solid, ethical supplier relationships

  • Manage multiple tasks at once, in a high pressure environment

  • Provide daily status for on time delivery, product delivery forecasts, risks and mitigation plans, and supplier performance

  • Drive continuous improvement and Track quality issues and work with supplier on the issues

  • Recommends for selection and develops competitive sources of supply in accordance with good business practices, company policies and procedures and government regulations

  • Apprises cognizant management and user community of supplier progress and/or problems

  • Negotiates prices, delivery, quality requirements, and terms and conditions for procurement of assigned commodities or services and issues appropriate commitment document; act as committing authority for the company in relationship with supplier

  • Up to 25% travel; in-support of various NGIS Space Component Operating Unit Sites

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business/Purchasing/Supply Chain

  • Minimum of 6 years Procurement experience in manufacturing environment/aerospace industry. Experience with Complex Machine Part Procurement. Experience with FAR/DFAR procurement regulations.

  • A High School Diploma OR GED and a minimum of 10 years' of direct procurement experience in a large manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent follow-up. Strong presentation skills, with the ability to comfortably present risks and achievements to a management team

  • Experience with Microsoft skills required; Excel, Power Point and MS Project

  • Ability to think 'outside the box' and establish positive supplier and internal customer relationships

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high visibility, sometimes high stress environment

  • Knowledge of MRP systems, Supply Chain Mgmt, procurement principles, acquisition regulations

  • Strong Negotiation Skills, Cost Mode

  • Familiarity with CostPoint© is a major plus for any candidate

  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous aerospace procurement experience

  • Exposure to APICS

  • Education in Supply Chain Management or Logistics

  • Experience with Partial Defined Drawings (Machine Parts)

  • Self-Starter, Experience leading project teams

  • Certifications: Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) and/or Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) Competencies for Success

  • Positive individual who is willing to expand current skill set, thought schooling and training

  • Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization

  • Strong communication skills
