Northrop Grumman Machinist / Assembler 2 in Commerce, California
Performs a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as test fixtures, test frames, support tooling, and prototype assemblies for pressure vessel hardware. Works from diagrams and drawings, makes initial layouts, and uses hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws. May conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
Primary responsibilities of the position are as follows:
Support several concurrent programs in the tool manufacturing technician function
Precision machine piece parts and assemblies in accordance with engineering drawing requirement
Fabricate and assemble support tooling in accordance with engineering drawing requirements
Inspect tooling equipment for compliance to engineering drawing requirements and perform repair / refurbishment as required
Support test engineering in the inspection, setup, and refurbishment of test tooling
Support the management of tooling inventory
Support the calibration and maintenance of test equipment in accordance with industry standards
Access to machining and welding equipment will be provided
High School diploma OR GED and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience
2+ years of Machinist experience
Machining and assembling of aluminum and steel structures
Ability to operate a fork lift and overhead crane and certify to internal standards for their use
Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English.
Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and follow written procedures.
Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on customer service excellence.
Must be able to work within established procedures for documentation control.
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Strong attention to detail.
Excels in a team environment
US Citizenship required
Experience welding of aluminum and steel structures a plus
Experience with pressurized assemblies a plus
