Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

As anIntern in the Industrial Engineering/Facilities group you will support the following areas:

  • Requires “hands-on” involvement in a propulsion tank manufacturing environment

  • Varied organizational and documenting assignments

  • Projects/tasks as assigned/needed

Desired Experience/Skills:

College Students who are preparing to enter their junior or senior year pursuing a BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Strong candidates for this position will possess many of the following attributes:

  • Must have some experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment

  • Prior experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment a plus

  • Technical background through related coursework and work experience which would include an abillity to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

  • Familiar with Kaizen and practicing continuous improvement

  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices a plus

  • Project management experience a plus

  • Experience and success in working within teams

  • Proven leadership ability from past experiences

  • Proven ability to multi-task and self-starter able to work independently

  • Strong interpersonal skills to drive actions necessary to accomplish assigned tasks

  • Customer focus

  • The successful candidate will be motivated, detail oriented and a team player

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and Visio

  • Technical attention to detail on past projects and assignments

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Own transportation, good attendance and ability to follow directions
