Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
As anIntern in the Industrial Engineering/Facilities group you will support the following areas:
Requires “hands-on” involvement in a propulsion tank manufacturing environment
Varied organizational and documenting assignments
Projects/tasks as assigned/needed
College Students who are preparing to enter their junior or senior year pursuing a BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Strong candidates for this position will possess many of the following attributes:
Must have some experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment
Prior experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment a plus
Technical background through related coursework and work experience which would include an abillity to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Familiar with Kaizen and practicing continuous improvement
Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices a plus
Project management experience a plus
Experience and success in working within teams
Proven leadership ability from past experiences
Proven ability to multi-task and self-starter able to work independently
Strong interpersonal skills to drive actions necessary to accomplish assigned tasks
The successful candidate will be motivated, detail oriented and a team player
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and Visio
Technical attention to detail on past projects and assignments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Own transportation, good attendance and ability to follow directions
