Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Network – Global Network Engineer (24-167) (BLSk) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO area.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.
This position includes both the engineering of new capabilities and the maintenance of existing environments. We use a mix of different vendors and expect the network engineer to be comfortable working with numerous technologies.
Essential Functions:
Produce designs including system, logical, and connectivity drawings, and conduct testing of network designs.
Maintain technical expertise in diverse network and computer hardware and software areas, including interconnection and interfacing with various devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, gateways, etc.
Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot networking equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
Working knowledge of spanning trees, trunking, routing protocols, first hop redundancy protocols, and IP subnetting.
Demonstrated experience in the design and execution of network engineering configuration changes and documentation in a complex IT environment.
Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer interface skills, be a quick learner, and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while maintaining a can-do attitude.
Basic Qualifications:
Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume if applicable.
An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
9 years with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 13 years experience in lieu of a degree.
Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
Must have presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers and independently on large field projects.
Proven track record of troubleshooting skills.
Travel may be required to support local and remote sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.
Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switches, Juniper routers and switches, Fortinet firewalls, Palo Alto firewalls.
Experience with WANs, encryption devices, VxLAN, multicast, BGP, OSPF, and Wireshark.
Familiarity with SIPRNet, MDACNet, or other DOD networks.
CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA, and Cisco CCNA/CCNP certifications.
Understanding the project lifecycle, related processes, and traditional systems engineering skills.
Experience reviewing work products produced by a team of engineers for quality, completeness, and adherence to established procedures and policies.
Experience planning and supporting network infrastructure deployment are highly desired.
Prior C2BMC network experience is also a plus.

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:
Salary Range: $109,900 - $164,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
