Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join the team. This position may be located in Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. What you will get to do: The Command & Launch Systems Engineering & Integration team is looking for a Modeling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) engineer. The Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis discipline itself is a mesh of many fields (e.g. Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, etc.) and frequently collaborates across functional disciplines, offering a highly unique opportunity to obtain a broad understanding of many areas or to more narrowly focus on developing a deep expertise in any one of the relevant fields. In this role, you will be asked to work in a team environment to conduct research, develop models, and perform analysis of a wide variety of system types to drive the development of requirements, refine existing requirements, and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. You will work with the C&L SE&I team engineers, as well as with Program and Element Systems Engineering teams. Responsibilities may include any or all of the following: Support system analysis, operations analysis and trade study activities to include requirements analysis, system analysis, system survivability analysis, and performance/effectiveness analysis Create new and adapt existing models, methods, and analysis capabilities to conduct studies to support the design, development, and assessment of advanced system design concepts and technologies Provide modeling, simulation, and analysis support to accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering "V". Basic Qualifications: 5 years of systems or test engineering experience with Bachelors in a STEM related field; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD Experience in Modeling and Simulation of Ground System, Radar and/or Missile platforms Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills Strong work ethic and the ability to work in an integrated product team (IPT) environment Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, with a background investigation date within 6 years Working knowledge of DOORS Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in and/or technical understanding of survivability and operational analysis frameworks and models Proficiency in one or more of the following: MATLAB, Perl, Python, C# or C/C++, or other programming languages Experience with Cameo Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts Experience with multi-fidelity MS&A tools for modeling and assessments, including ability to guide MS&A activities to model tactics and CONOPS for multi-fidelity assessments Experience with development, integration, and/or test of weapon systems and military architectures, platforms, and force packages across multiple domains Experience briefing analysis models, methodologies and results to senior leadership Experience with version control using Atlassian, or other tools Familiarity with Linux and/or Unix-based development Experience working in an Agile development environment Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SSBI, or Active DoD Top Secret with SCI Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
