Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) was selected by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency to participate on the Missile Defense National Team. This team was chartered to develop a Ballistic Missile Defense System for the United States. Missile Defense and Protective Systems (MDPS) serves as Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' focal point for all activities associated with missile defense, including Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC), simulation & modeling, systems engineering, and target discrimination.
The SE External Interface Engineerposition will be located in Colorado Springs.
Candidate should possess the ability to be part of an integrated team tasked with developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical requirements baselines and interface definition necessary to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving BMDS Battle Management, Command & Control, and Communications (C2BMC) system. Candidate should be familiar with the DOORS tool. Candidate skills desired include: Definition of external system interface characteristics and documentation in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) as well as supporting requirements solicitation, derivation, and decomposition to lower level subsystems and components. Maintenance of system and component baselines in a requirement management system; defining the relationships between internal and external components; and generating system/element level functional, performance, and interface specifications to document and control the achievement of the desired capabilities.
Successful candidate will be assigned supporting several interface control document authors to develop and maintain external C2BMC system interfaces. ICDs are baselined and maintained in the DOORS tool. Work will be performed under the direction of various technical leads and require interfacing with team members, external element interface representatives, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high quality products are generated on time and within the resources available. Responsibilities include generation of responsible sections of the ICDs, adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and acting as a technical interface to MDA working level counterparts on an as-required basis.
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 1 year of increasingly responsible Systems Engineering/requirements/interface engineering roles in the development, integration and support of large scale software intensive systems. A Master's degree and 0 years of experience may be substituted.
Experience must include specific roles in a program with respect to one of the following areas: interface definition; or requirement development using a requirements management schema and attributes.
An Active Secret clearance is required.
Some travel may be required.
Desired skills include a demonstrated ability to analyze high level needs utilizing use cases/scenarios and relate them to the requirements.
Experience with / knowledge of MBSE or model-based engineering desired.
Excellent communications skills are required (written and oral). Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Demonstrated ability to implement engineering plans within a project.
