Northrop Grumman Structural Design Engineer 2/3 in Clearfield, Utah

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs, researches, and develops engineering specifications for metallic, non-metallic, and composite structures in all phases of the product life cycle from preliminary design to sustainment.

  • Designs include 2D and 3D model based engineering for detailed parts and assemblies.

  • Fundamental understanding of GD&T.

  • Design will be performed utilizing software packages such as NX, TeamCenter, and Fibersim.

  • Excellent communication and people skills required to work with key stakeholders within other engineering disciplines, including but not limited to system engineering and structural analysis, for capturing all engineering requirements needed for the design and to achieve program objectives in a timely manner.

  • Critical thinking and personal organizational skills required to capture and complete a design that meets all engineering requirements.

  • Additional work responsibilities may include task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade level for candidates exceeding the basic qualifications listed below.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3

Basic Qualifications for Structural Analysis Engineer 2:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Minimum 2 years of related mechanical, structural, or design engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; 0 years of experience with a related Master's degree

Basic Qualifications for Structural Analysis Engineer 3:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of related mechanical, structural, or design engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years of experience with a related Master's degree

  • U.S. Citizenship is required

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance once hired

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher

  • Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 2+ years of structural design experience

  • 2+ years GD&T experience

  • 2+ years NX, TeamCenter and Fibersim experience

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

  • Hard working, motivated, and independent worker
