Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Construction Engineer Level 3/4 for our Clearfield, UT location. Additionally, the ideal candidate will manage construction projects to include reviewing/assigning incoming department requests, cost estimate and schedule reviews, contractor workforce management, and coordination with other departments.
Key responsibilities:
Plans, designs, and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities.
Prepares architectural and engineering cost estimates and schedules.
Obtains and supervises outside contractors.
Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities.
Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects.
Prepare and present reports on project status, including timelines, budgets, and any deviation from the original plan.
Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Construction Engineer (Level 3):
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) with 5 years of experience in the following fields: Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management, Construction Engineering OR Masters degree in STEM field with 3 of experience in mentioned fields OR PhD in STEM with 0 years of experience
Experience in managing large-scale construction projects
Experience with computer operations and applications pertinent to the job function (i.e. Revit, MS Visio, MS Project, and or other construction design software)
Valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
Sr. Principal Construction Engineer (Level 4):
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) with 8 years of experience in the following fields: Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Construction Management, Construction Engineering OR Masters degree in STEM field with 6 of experience in mentioned fields OR PhD in STEM with 3 years of experience
Experience in managing large-scale construction projects
Experience with computer operations and applications pertinent to the job function (i.e. Revit, MS Visio, MS Project, and or other construction design software)
Valid driver's license
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera)
Experience in presenting to leadership, executive and or management
Experience with construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
Ability to obtain Secret level clearance.
Facilities experience in the Defense sector along with understanding of security standard ICD 705
Experience in aerospace industry Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and LEED Certification
Salary Range: $84,200 - $126,400
Salary Range 2: $104,400 - $156,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
