Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for a Program Director to support the Aerospace Structures Business Unit in the Internal Military Programs Segment.
The primary objective will be the delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions. The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals.
The Director will be responsible for leading a profit and loss (P&L) within the Aero Structures program segment as the Director of sustainment and in-load programs. Primary responsibilities include managing for P&L, establishing strategic direction for executing existing programs and capturing growth opportunities. The Director of Programs will ensure program execution, represent the business unit as the customer interface, Program Team Management and delivering financial results.
Primary responsibilities are the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems and include, but are not limited to:
Business Lane Management
Execute programs successfully by managing safety, quality, schedule, technology and cost (P&L responsibility)
Continuously drive for results and challenge the status quo
Delivering presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders
Establishing a program organization that effectively addresses customer requirements
Provide overall leadership and direction to the program teams (to include coaching team members, resolving conflict, reviewing performance, and initiating corrective actions, if necessary)
Work with and across program support functions (such as contracts, finance supply chain management, quality assurance and engineering)
Possess the proven ability to provide verbal and written information clearly, succinctly, and persuasively
Establish role and performance expectations, and provide ongoing feedback and performance appraisals
Ensure thorough risk & opportunity management practices including identification, mitigation and realization are followed
Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions
Issue & Problem Resolution: The ability to identify and address program impacts through a systematic, proactive, approach to issue and problem resolution that identifies, communicates, monitors, and promptly resolves conflicts across all levels of the program.
Cultivating customer relationships and intimacy to develop further opportunities within the customer community
Service the customer (executing the program and resolving issues in accordance with business objectives, strategy, legal requirements, regulations, contract terms, and company policies)
Balance the interests of the customer, NGAS and employees
Leverage existing programs to win new business
Direct proposal preparation (to ensure it meets NGAS business strategy, is compliant, responds to customer needs, and provides a proper base for successful negotiations and program performance)
Developing new business opportunities through long term strategic planning, capture planning, and development of proposals and business plans
Bachelor's Degree a in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 15 years, or Master's and 10 years' experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
Previous relevant experience as a Sr. Program Manager
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with large organizations
Experience successfully transitioning programs to production
Demonstrated financial management skills including: development and control of program budgets, schedules, EAC's and the ability to recognize and capture program changes, rate and factors, EVMS.
Experience managing discretionary budgets (IRAD, B&P, Marketing, Capital)
Experience running proposals and reviews/delegations
Active in scope clearance within the last 5 years.
Composite, launch structures and or advanced materials product experience
Background in engineering and/or engineered products
Government proposal experience with aircraft structures and systems
Experience working with major prime customers especially with sophisticated user customers
Proven ability to influence others
