Northrop Grumman Receiving Inspector 2 in Charlottesville, Virginia

Northrop Grumman Mission systems is seeking a talented Receiving Inspector 2 to join our team in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspection of procured components, assemblies, weldments and materials of various geometric configurations and processes as specified for compliance with established customer and NG requirements. Visually inspects for obvious defects or damage such as corrosion, cracks, dents, scratches, and pits. Verifies specifications using purchase orders, blueprints, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists. Makes pass/ fail decisions on inspected goods. Maintains records of results.

The Inspector will advise Manufacturing and Mission Assurance of quality problems and conditions, and assists in preventing the recurrence of defects by performing appropriate follow-up, inspection and evaluation activities. The Inspector will identify and tag nonconforming parts, material and incorrect processes with appropriated inspection documentation. Performs evaluations using common tooling such as dial indicators, micrometers, scales, fixtures and other various gages as well as programming, setup and use of measuring equipment including coordinate measurement machines and optical comparators. Apply analytical evaluation methods and calculations involving complex triangulation, compound angles, etc., as necessary, throughout the inspection cycle. Analyze and evaluate actual dimensions and functional test results to verify conformance with purchase order specifications and standards .


Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma and 2+ years of experience in mechanical inspection or other equivalent experience or an Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing and 1+ year of experience in mechanical inspection or other equivalent experience.

Ability to pay continuous attention to detailed operations

Experience to collaborate in a team environment

Experience to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project results

Ability to make decisions which have impact on the organization's credibility, operations and services

Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing up to 35 pounds

Ability to communicate over ambient noise level

U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) government security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

AS/BS degree or higher

Three or more years of experience in mechanical inspection

General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

CMM programming using PC-DMIS or equivalent software package

IPC 610 Certification

IPC 620 Certification

Experience with inspection of Printed Wiring Boards, including raw boards and component populated boards
