Northrop Grumman Experimental Machinist 3 in Charlotte, North Carolina
Support daily production through the mounting, facing and turning of tin laps
Assist areas of production and support groups like maintenance in smaller daily tasks as they rise; such as punching, drilling, taping, cutting, boring, pressing and milling with no supervision or direct instruction
Work with other experienced machinist within the department to accomplish engineered maching and tooling request of original parts for internal applications
Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions for research/process engineers in developmental conditions with limited supervision
Communicate with machine shop engineer and area supervisor to meet customer needs
High school diploma plus a minimum of six years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment
High mechanical knowledge of metals and plastic in mills, lathes, presses, bandsaws, sanders, drills and punches to support maintenance department and production engineering
Possess a high level knowledge of CNC machining and turning with expertise to produce quality tooling within tight tolerances under limited supervision
Ability to resolve moderately complex problems individually and collaborate on complex issues
Perform routine machining functions with minimal error
Advanced knowledge of CAD/CAM software interfaces for updating code specifications to meet customer needs at the machine interface
Ability to read and understand blueprints
