Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

SECRET CLEARANCE REQUIRED

The Sr. Program Manager must have a minimum 10 years of experience developing/producing launch vehicles, with a minimum of 5 years at an Engineering Manager or equivalent role (this is important because we need someone who has already been a PEM or Chief Engineer since they’ll be directing very senior people at those levels).

Experience supporting MDA as a customer is preferred and is a significant plus

Previous or current experience working on Targets is a plus

  • Execute project management for Internal Research and Development projects that are relatively large in scope and span multiple engineering disciplines

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance relative to concept development, requirements development, design and integration/test.

  • Develop project plan, including resource loaded milestone schedule and earned value management system.

  • Develop budgetary estimates-to-complete for active projects.

  • Develop time phased budgetary estimates and detailed technical proposals for new projects.

  • Provide weekly written reports on project status, including accomplishments, issues and near term events.

  • Brief senior management on project status and technical details approximately monthly.

Manage the resolution of all issues related to these lines both technical and supplier related.

Experience Requirements:

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 14 years directly related experience in Program Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Direct experience managing hardware/software integration

  • Direct internal as well as external customer interface experience

  • Verbal and written communications with all levels of management

  • Extensive experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience developing project cost and schedules and managing efforts via EVMS

  • Exceptional leader of a multi-disciplined teams including avionics, software, propulsion and structural

  • Extensive experience creating and delivering presentations to customers and senior leadership teams

  • Thorough understanding of design standards procurement processes and configuration management

  • Ability to work under limited supervision and complete projects on time and on budget

  • Multi-disciplinary engineering experience or system engineering experience

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Secret Clearance required

  • Ability to Travel Infrequently (3-4 trips/year)

Education/Certifications Preferred:

BS in Business, Management, Science, or Technical discipline is required

BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Degree or other Technical degree applicable
