Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced Principal Engineer Systems "Mission Manager" to join the Systems Engineering Integration & Test Development Team within Launch Vehicles business unit to support the IRBM/ICBM Program located in Chandler, AZ.

Role Description & Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will serve as Mission Manager for one or more IRBM/ICBM Target Missions requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.

  • The candidate should possess strong technical problem solving, written and verbal communication skills to generate and document mission launch vehicle requirements, perform vehicle performance assessments and participate in mission verification/data review activities.

  • Regular interface with program management, engineering staff and external customers is expected.

  • The candidate should be willing to occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (greater than 40 hrs/wk) to meet deadlines.

  • The candidate should possess a strong resolve to drive tasks to completion autonomously and possess demonstrated mentoring/training skills.

  • Implement and manage system requirements in the Requirements Management databases (DOORS).

  • Provides data for and assists in risk management (identifies potential risks) and trade study processes.

  • Supports mission design, data analyses, interface verification, testing, and failure/anomaly resolution.

  • Prepares and presents materials for at major mission milestone meetings.

  • Manages cost accounts for mission scope of work


Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.

  • Candidate must have a DoD Secret level security clearance which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite.

  • Ability to travel is required (less than 25%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong experienced-based and academic foundation in Systems Engineering fundamentals is desired.

  • Experience with Northrop Grumman Space Systems LVBU Systems Engineering standards/guidelines and expectations is desired.

  • Experience with external customer interfacing (meetings, presentation, negotiation) is desired.

  • System testing and launch operations experience is desired.

  • Previous Cost Account Management experience is desired.

  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, and/or Jira is desired
