Designs, develops, implements, verifies and tests algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events. Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality. Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space. Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.

The Guidance Navigation and Controls team is hiring a Principal GNC Engineer located in Chandler, Arizona.

Job Description

In this role, the candidate will lead the Guidance, Navigation , and controls (GNC) mission development effort for Minotaur space launch vehicle missions. The candidate should have a background working with missile autopilots and trajectory simulation. In this role, a candidate will design, develop, implement, and tests launch vehicle autopilot to support satellite launch.

The ideal candidate should have a knowledge of C++, matlab, simulink, and python. The role will include mentoring supporting engineering staff while leading to the successful development of the missile autopilot. The role will encompass program phases from preliminary design reviews through launch operations.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 0 years of related experience

Ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance, or higher

Experience with vehicle trajectory design and customer provided requirements analysis in a flight software in simulation environment Experience with C++, MATLAB, and Simulink

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor or Masters Degree Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical

Experience with autopilot and guidance algorithm design and navigation and actuator subsystems

Experience with Python and the Linux operating system are preferred

Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher

Salary Range: $90,400 - $135,600

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
