Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Manager Systems Engineering 3 - Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) Department Manager to join our team within Launch Vehicles business unit at the Chandler, AZ facility.
The SEIT Department Manager provides recognition and accountability for a span of control of 30+ employees while reporting directly to the Director of SEIT. This position is responsible for overseeing matrixed engineers supporting LV business unit programs and/or SEIT led functions. The position may manage lower-level manager(s), who manage a subset of the Manager 3's span of control.
This position provides technical leadership and resource management to ensure timely resolution of issues affecting launch vehicle design and verification.
The SEIT Department Manager performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. The position ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The position performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Functional management

May manage other managers
Time sheet approval
Writing and conducting mid and end of year performance reviews for direct reports
Provide timely feedback and direction to direct reports
Assess and communicate staffing needs on a monthly basis
Management of department metrics
Maintenance of department processes, standards and command media

Technical Oversight / Leadership
Provide technical oversight by reviewing key SEIT products, analyses and models for compliance to department standards, good engineering practice and compliance to customer requirements and expectations.
Provide technical leadership and resource management to ensure timely resolution of issues impacting launch vehicle design and verification.
Resolve complex technical issues related to systems engineering, including any required failure analysis and corrective action
Prepare periodic technical reports and presentations for senior management to document current status, corrective action (if required) and go forward plans
Support or manage Independent Design Reviews
Provide leadership and management of systems engineering activities as required by the department or program

Basic Qualifications:
BS in Engineering plus 9 years of experience is required; Masters degree plus 7 years of experience.
Demonstrated leadership experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Aerospace experience with system architecture development
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 years of related work experience is preferred.
Program execution experience is strongly preferred.
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience is preferred.
Experience managing an engineering team.
Salary Range: $152,100 - $228,100
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
