Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an experienced Digital Engineering Project Lead to join the Launch Missile Defense Systems in Chandler AZ.

Digital Engineering & CPLM Lead

  • Oversee and guide implementation of the digital thread through Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) for both the unclassified and classified Launch Vehicles (LV) Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Scope (Booster Integration, Flight Telemetry Instrumentation (FTI) and Automated Flight System Safety (AFSS) Integration and Test).

  • Independently assess and determine full scope of digital thread effort and CPLM. Differentiate and delineate the requirements at Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) program level, LV level and those of LV's major subcontractors.

  • Determine LV's plan for the time-phased implementation of each aspect of the CPLM. Obtain buy-in, inclusive of resources (funding, people), from both LV leadership and GBSD Program Management.

  • Identify and advocate where contractual requirements require refinement in order to align with LV's plan.

  • Lead cross-functional team that defines:

  • How to release Build/Buy to Prints (BTP's) in the digital thread. This includes Product Definition Packages (PDP's), Quality Assessment Packages (QAP's), and Produce Product Package (PPP)

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) requirements and how they bridge into the digital thread

  • MRB/Nonconformance's requirements and the tools that will be used

  • How subcontractor/IWO inputs will be pulled into the digital thread

  • Assured File Transfer (AFT) process to implement into each digital software tool

  • Training plan for courses and classes required for users to succeed in their roles within the digital thread

  • Assess the Integrated Digital Environment (IDE) Core Tool Baseline List to determine the appropriate approach to meet system requirements. Areas to consider include:

  • Analysis & CAE

  • ECAD & MCAD

  • Programmatic & Program Tools

  • Manufacturing & Tooling

  • LV expert in understanding of the GBSD Engineering Drawing & Modeling Manual (EDMM). Advocate and champion of updating and maintaining the EDMM to fit LV's successful design and build philosophy.

  • Function as leader that defines and drives the digital transformation culture into LV and the GBSD program.

  • Ability to present and clearly communicate complex issues and technical details to customer and executive management

Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD.
