Northrop Grumman Production Engineering Manager in Carpinteria, California
Astro Aerospace, a Strategic Business Unit of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, is currently in search of a Production Engineering Managerto support our Production Engineeringgroup in our Goleta, CA, facilities. The Production Engineering Manager will report to the Operations Manager and is responsible for managing and forming a team of manufacturing and industrial engineers capable of supporting multiple programs across several different product lines. They will be required to design, plan and implement improvement methodologies and manufacturing engineering processes necessary to improve and enhance production performance. They will work closely with design engineering and quality to ensure manufacturing processes meet product requirements and quality standards.They will also work closely with facilities and production to ensure facility designs, layouts, equipment and tooling support production needs.
Responsible for manpower planning, recruiting, hiring and developing employees.
Lead IPT meetings, staff meetings and tiger teams. Document minutes and actions.
Delegate and communicate clear roles and responsibilities to staff. Establish accountability through planning and performance management/measurement.
Oversee the development and delivery of material required for Program Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Sell Off Reviews and SDRL's.
Develop industrial engineering staff and data management processes to ensure critical processes can be measured effectively.
Create/maintain metrics that track MO burn-downs, tooling design burn-downs, and production labor standards.
Provide estimate to complete data to Program Cost Account Managers.
Lead trade studies and implementation of Manufacturing Execution System and Manufacturing Resource Planning improvements.
Design company-level Process Improvement Methodologies.
Review, create and update company level policies and procedures that outline production engineering processes.
Establish standardized routing operations, work centers, and labor standards to help ensure budget and schedule integrity.
Oversee the development of training materials for manufacturing engineers and technicians.
Work with production planning and procurement to ensure work order releases and parts procurement activities support program milestones.
Contribute proposal activities and cost estimations necessary for budgeting.
Oversee the design, build and budgeting of production tooling and equipment.
Manage the creation of manufacturing process instructions and oversee production floor support activities.
Oversee the resolution of Non-Conformances and the implementation of corrective actions.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least ten (10) year of experience in manufacturing engineering or in a related area.
Must have prior people management experience.
Familiarity with standard manufacturing concepts, best practices, and procedures, preferably within the aerospace industry.
