Northrop Grumman Senior Principal Material Process Engineer in Bethpage, New York

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Material Process Engineer to join our team in Bethpage, NY. Candidate's responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing, researching, designing and developing materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.

  • Applying principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.

  • Developing, analyzing and applying material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.

  • Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.

  • May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • STEM degree required. 9 plus years experience with Bachelors or 7 plus years with Masters

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have extensiveexperience in performing failure analysis for both metallic aircraft parts and processes and possess a strong background and proficiency in the use of laboratory equipment and tools such as but not limited to microscopes (SEM, Metallographs, Stereo) mechanical static and fatigue test frames, analytical equipment, hardness/conductivity testers, NDT, polishing and mounting units, hoods, etchants.

  • Candidate should have a strong capability in Metallurgical and Chemical analysis and proficiency in the establishment and implementation of test programs as well asa demonstrated capability in the preparationof comprehensive laboratory reports.
