Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Advance & Strategic Global Supply Chain Category Management organization is seeking a Category Manager for our Microelectronics and Foundry team. This position will be located in the Baltimore facility or can be worked remote. The Manager will oversee a team of Engineers and Business Professionals who will be responsible for all projects assigned to the organizational unit. Acts as an advisor to staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Directly participates in establishing and administering many centralized functional projects. Develop and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards. The Category Manager will lead a team who maintains detailed knowledge of category and supply base to support development/maintenance of the Category Strategy document to include:
•Maintains detailed knowledge of category and supply base to support development/maintenance of Category Strategy document including:
•Knowledge of Market Intelligence, emerging trends, broad knowledge of technology area based off of technical analysis inputs;
•Responsible for Supplier Manufacturing capabilities and capacity
•Knowledge of future program forecasts and needs as it impacts capacity assessments and sourcing recommendations
•Manage and support operations throughout the operational cycle to minimize risks and costs and optimize gain
•Provides analysis and research for industry and technology, and identifies targeted vulnerabilities based on country and geographic area.
•Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing requirements and ensure maximum operations.
•Collects data using a combination of standard intelligence methods and business processes.
•Provides strategic sourcing guidance for category suppliers during the business acquisition process.
•Ensure alternate designs are considered and coordinated across the organization within the division and program facing teams.
•Consults and influences ES&T Product Development with suppliers that results in competitive advantage
•Maintains detailed knowledge of category technology area; geographically and technically aligned with design concentration areas.
•Will ensure thorough knowledge of the category supplier Technical Capabilities and aligns Northrop Grumman and Supplier technology roadmaps; interface with design engineering on supplier capabilities and design producibility analysis.
•Provides guidance on technical planning and supports analysis of cost and risk.
•Perform Analyses are performed in coordination with Engineering & Design organization at all appropriate levels to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation and operation. Technical Advocate for GSC early engagement in the business acquisition process.
•Provides influence on design guidelines based on supplier capabilities.
•Engineering Facing Role to advocate and influence Producibility analysis.
The Category Manager will oversee and manage the Supplier Planning Leads and Procurement Leads who manage supplier performance and supplier interface for MS sector. Manage Open orders to include status, dock dates, notes, updates to programs, lead on supplier issue management, prioritization, expediting; PRRs; Quarterly Supplier PMRs - strategic and tactical content. Supplier Investments/Growth/Financial Health; Overall supplier performance and Risk profiles
Identifying the appropriate skills mix based on current and forecasted business needs to include experienced hires, college graduates and interns. Build and execute strategy for full life-cycle talent management (hire, retain, deploy and develop talent).
In addition the individual will creating diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement and ensure consistency across functional disciplines - ensuring expected development processes, common tools, metrics collection and reporting, reuse, and training/skill development through all levels of the organization. The manager will influence and create an enviroment promoting systems thinking, innovation, affordability, knowledge management, engineering utilization, and other process improvement initiatives. This includes the implementation and monitoring of metrics covering engineering efficiency and quality, as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Math, Science or a similar technical field with a minimum of 10 years of related experience
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Functional Management, Engineering Management, or Program Management
Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated experience in leading high performing organizations and leading organizational change.
Effective communication and presentation skills
U.S. Citizen and has or can obtain a Security Clearance
Active Top Secret Clearance
