Northrop Grumman Engineering Manager F-35 Sustainment in Baltimore, Maryland

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking an engineering leader to manage a matrix team of highly qualified, diverse individuals in our Baltimore, MD facility. Qualified applicants will become part of the F-35Business Facing Engineering organization, which provides engineering management with revenue responsibilityfor a wide variety of systems and applied technologies aligned to the Airborne Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance ( AC4ISR) business units.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all engineering aspects related to the Sustainment of the F-35 Radar. This shall include but not limited to:

  • Provide overall engineering leadership for decision making and direction on all Radar repairs and related activities including prioritization, trend, RCCA investigation.Work collaboratively with LCSO (Life Cycle Sustainment Organization) management, engineering and technicians for test and troubleshoot of all repairs and upgrades.

  • Take ownership and drive for root cause of all repairs from both LM Aero Ft Worth production facility as well as fielded hardware returned for A/C BIT and System failures

  • Analyze all returned hardware for trends of either reason for return or root cause of the fault, and from there work jointly with the NGMS Production and Development EPMs on appropriate corrective actions (Root Cause Corrective Action RCCA)

  • Assure necessary Engineering resources are employed to confirm failure, establish effective repair and integrity of the hardware in coordination with LCSO

  • Actively participate in Failure Review Board analysis and reporting of all hardware returned through the LCSO

  • Manages engineering cost and schedule of repair activities in accordance with the Master Repair Agreement

  • Lead and report progress for metrics associated with sustainment activities including but not limited to reduction of RTAT (repair turnaround time), Reliability Growth, and FRACAS, as well as cost and schedule performance

  • Communicate with and serve as the engineering project team liaison to program executives, customers, and functional engineering management. Customer relationship is a priority.

  • Provide direct support and innovative planning and strategyfor the F-35 Sustainment Director and Program Managers with respect to Radar contracts, proposals, and business growth opportunities (e.g., Performance Based Logistics proposal) while serving our customers with affordable sustainment of the F-35 Radar system

  • Ensure staffing needs are documented and resource assignments are completed, and collaborate with all functional organizations to resolve any engineering conflicts

  • Drive engineering repair process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives

  • Lead initiative to develop a Reliability Growth curve based on hardware field reliability in conjunction with continuous improvement activities introduced throughout production.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, the individual must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree

  • Minimum 10 years of experience providing technical leadership of a multi-disciplined engineering team, and/or 16 years of experience designing, producing, and/or testing RF electronic assemblies used in RADAR, Electronic Warfare, or Communication applications

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work across organization lines and levels

  • Relevant experience in working directly with the customer including leading telecoms, presentations, and proposal activity with demonstrated written and oral communication skills

  • A US Citizen with a current Secret Clearance (or higher) and the ability to maintain it.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent

  • 15 years of experience providing technical leadership of a multi-disciplined engineering team, and/or 20 years of experience designing, producing, and testing RF electronic assemblies used in RADAR, Electronic Warfare, or Communication applications

  • 5 years or more of functional management experience performing people leadership duties, to include conducting performance feedback and performance management

  • Experience with the F-35 Radar product line and manufacturing and test operations

  • Position prefers a candidate with ability to obtain Special Access Clearances as needed
