Northrop Grumman Circuit Card Assembly / Printed Wiring Board Designer in Baltimore, Maryland

Northrop Grumman Mission Systemsis seeking an experienced Circuit Card Assembly / Printed Wiring Board (CCA/PWB) Designer to join our team of designers in Sykesville, MD.

The CCA/PWB Designer plans, lays out, draws and revises parts, assemblies and fabrication engineering drawings from basic layouts, establishing references and standard data for CCA/PWB design artifacts. Utilizes computer-aided design graphic tools such as Mentor DX Designer. Completes details of major layout drawings in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices, military specifications, as well as industry standards.

Primary Functions

  • Layout of PWBs and CCAs with component placement, interconnect routing and drawing generation

  • Creates and Documents the required electronic data file outputs for fabrication and manufacture

  • Responsible to interface with Electrical and Mechanical engineers to work through component placement, routing, mechanical fitment for rigid, flex, and rigid-flex assemblies

  • Responsible for designs that include System in Package (SiP), High Density Interconnect (HDI), High Speed Routing including DDR4, Complex Analog, RF and High Speed SERDES

  • Understands technical theories of electrical and mechanical behavior of PCBs to influence layout decisions (i.e. impedance matching, differential pairs, HDI technology, Strains and Stresses, orientation of components, etc.).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with co-workers. Be able to coordinate and lead design reviews with engineering, quality and manufacture personnel

  • Experience creating and maintaining PCB Library Parts, Footprints from component's data using PADS, Xpedition VX

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mentor Xpedition, Designer (DXDesigner), AutoCAD or similar CAD package

  • Familiarity with industrywide specifications, guidelines for CCA/PWB design, fabrication and manufacture

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

-Technical training or certifications related to relative course work

  • 4 - 6 yearsof relative experience

  • U.S. Citizenship isrequired

Preferred Qualifications:

  • XDM/DMS Library Tools

  • NPI Manufacture Software

  • Cadence Allegro is a plus
