Northrop Grumman C/C++ Software Engineer with Top Secret Clearance 2/3 in Baltimore, Maryland

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer Level 2 or Level 3with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative Processing Technologies team to help develop, enhance and maintain software on cutting edge products and systems. The systems the software engineer will be working on are focused on ground mission planning/tasking (ground control systems), sensor command and control (embedded systems), sensor system test (command of test equipment and emulation) and/or sensor data processing (algorithm development/implementation and high-performance computing) for Space Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance platforms.

Candidates will work on software for mission systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle. Depending on type of work, the engineer will have exposure to a variety of languages including but not limited to C/C++, Java, Python, TCL, Perl, MATLAB, and Modeling and Simulation languages. Position includes opportunities to collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware & firmware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for mission-critical software.

The selected individual will interface with systems engineering to develop flow down software requirements and technical specifications. Responsibilities include identifying risks, suggesting mitigation, tracking defects, developing resolutions, and reporting status. The individual will also be expected to develop and execute unit and build verification test plans, and track and report test status.

Additionally, the selected individual will conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents. The selected individual will actively participate in the technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end to end system point of view. Individuals must be self-starters and able to efficiently operate in a small team environment. Existing engineering and system specialists will be made available to assist with any activities associated with executing primary tasking.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • Bachelor's Degreein Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other STEM Degree with 2 years of professional experience in related industry, OR Master's Degreein Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other STEM Degree.

  • ACTIVETop Secret clearance required, must be able to obtain SCI.

  • C/C++ experience required

  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation and I & T).

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • Bachelor's Degreein Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other STEM Degree with5 years of professional experience in related industry, OR Master's Degreein Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other STEM Degree with 3 years of professional experience in related industry, OR PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or other STEM Degree.

  • ACTIVETop Secret clearance required, must be able to obtain SCI.

  • C/C++ experience required

  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (Requirements, Design, Implementation and I & T).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Software architecture skills are a plus: Design Patterns, Object Oriented design with Artisan Studio.

  • Python/TCL a plus; embedded/multi-threaded application programming is a plus.
