Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector in Azusa, CA needs qualified Staff Line of Sight System Engineer level 5 with experience in developing and testing GNC or pointing and control algorithms on embedded systems for real-time flight. Experience in one or more of the following areas: Statistics, Kalman filtering, estimation theory, orbital mechanics, geometry, Line-of-Sight analysis, spacecraft/sensor attitude and boresight determination.
The staff systems engineer will support The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Ground Processing / Exploitation systems delivers timely infrared surveillance information including reliable, accurate missile event data to key decision makers. The system supports the country's missile warning/missile defense mission, the technical intelligence mission and bolsters situational awareness for warfighters on the battlefield. The system utilizes data from existing OPIR satellite constellations and reports data to mission users and warfighters over key national dissemination networks.
· Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field & 14 years of related engineering experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field & 12 years of related engineering experience
· Current & active DoD secret security clearance or higher
· Active & Current SCI security clearance
· Statistics, Kalman filtering, estimation theory, orbital mechanics, geometry, Line of Sight analysis, space craft sensor attitude or boresight determination experience
