Northrop Grumman's Space System Sector, Strategic Space Systems Division in Azusa CA, is in need of a qualified principal systems engineer (level 3) with an emphasis on IR payload design and IR payload test design for space based electro-optical infrared (EOIR) sensor payloads. The principal development test bench systems engineer will serve a key role in research and development efforts for EOIR payloads. This role will perform key assignments developing and testing several new payload concepts over the next several years. The individual will perform project planning, modeling and analysis, and hands on integration and testing in our electronics and optics laboratories.
The candidate should have a broad understanding of sensor payload subsystems and ability to identify performance discriminators. The position requires a strong technical background with experience in radiometric calibration and analysis, basic optics understanding, exposure to image processing techniques, tool development, integration and test design and support, and performance simulations and modelling. Technical understanding in space payload operations is strongly recommended. Experience working with hardware suppliers for electronics, optics, or test equipment is preferred.
