Supervisory or management responsibilities for projects engaged in research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline.

The Test Engineering Department is seeking a multi-discipline functional manager in Azusa, CA to manage department daily operations and lead a team responsible for environmental test facilities and test operations.

Approximately 20% of the manager's time will be spent performing functional management activities including:

  • Management of a team consisting of approximately 10-15 test engineers

  • Coordination of job assignments with program IPT leads,

  • Maintenance of department processes,

  • Perform mentoring, performance evaluation, coordinating activities and staffing and career development of department members

  • Assuring consistent application of common tools and processes are used by team members across programs.

The remaining balance of the manager's time will be spent supporting RF and IR programs, by performing test engineering tasks including procedure reviews and test execution.

The successful candidate will be self-directed, organized, with good problem-solving skills, able to perform effectively despite concurrent work tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related experience

  • Demonstrated leadership experience on a project or team

  • Strong understanding of Test Engineering discipline

  • Proficient developing quality Test Procedures

  • Experience presenting and interfacing with customers and program leadership

  • Proficient with standard Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)

  • Ability to evaluate proposal inputs (effort and task descriptions)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing people and projects

  • Experience mentoring new hires and junior engineers and encouraging employee engagement

  • Hands on experience maintaining a vacuum facility.

  • Read mechanical and electrical drawings

  • Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting thermal test equipment

  • Experience with thermal vacuum testing with extensive knowledge of chamber operations and maintenance

  • Strong working knowledge of thermal test equipment including pumps (rough, cryo, turbo), valves, heaters, PLC systems, leak detectors, QCM's, RGA'

  • Experience working with liquid and gaseous nitrogen storage and pumping systems

  • Experience with calibrated equipment and metrology

  • Background in other environmental test areas (vibration)

  • Experience with writing, reviewing and interpreting technical documentation including test procedures and drawings

  • Experience with contamination monitoring and leak checking equipment and methods

  • Experience with data acquisition systems and software applications related to thermal testing

  • Experience with and understanding of configuration management with regard to hardware, documents and software

  • Experience with and understanding of risk management

  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management System techniques

  • Active Secret security clearance
