Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated candidate with a strong background in quantum computation to help us architect quantum computing systems. As part of our group, you will work with a core team of scientists and engineers to make important contributions in the interest of our national defense and security. We are a collaborative and hard-working team that strives to foster a culture of belonging, mentorship, and personal growth. As a member of our team you will architect, analyze, and code procedures for fault-tolerant quantum error correction, state distillation, and related topics. There are opportunities to branch out in a variety of directions from that starting point.

This position requires work on site located at our Northrop Grumman’s facility in Aurora, CO

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related technical discipline with 4 years of professional experience.

  • Strong background in fault-tolerant quantum computation and quantum information theory

  • Familiarity with computational methods for analysis and simulation of quantum protocols

  • Programming experience in C++ and Python

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph clearance per business requirements (US citizenship is a prerequisite)

  • Proven skill at tackling/solving complex problems

  • Ability to learn new topics quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, diverse environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with noise-modeling and/or decoherence mechanisms

  • Familiarity with algorithms, quantum algorithms, and/or theoretical computer science

  • Familiarity with superconducting qubits or superconducting device physics

  • Experience with Mathematica

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance

Salary Range: $153,600 - $230,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
