Northrop Grumman Software Quality Engineer 2/3- TS/SCI in Aurora, Colorado

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) has an opportunity for a Software Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Aurora, CO. The qualified applicant will become part of the Space ISR Division's Quality & Mission Excellence team and will support our mission to deliver products and services that meet or exceed both internal and external customer quality requirements that promote mission success.

We are looking for a background in one or more of the following:

  • software/hardware program execution

  • software development

  • software/hardware systems engineering

  • software mission/quality assurance

  • process improvement

The candidate selected will monitor and improve mission/quality assurance system elements that assure program execution and customer goal satisfaction. The Software Quality professional will support one or more defense related software programs in the Aurora, Colorado area.

Roles and Responsibilities:

TheSoftware Quality Engineer has a general to complete understanding of software quality technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts related to Quality and Quality Management Systems. The Quality Engineer can provide technical solutions to assigned problems of increasing scope and complexity, and work under general supervision. The Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with all quality and mission assurance related contractual requirements, and sector policies and procedures, while contributing to the program's effective process implementation.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of software quality and mission assurance principles, the discipline to enforce them, and will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work closely and effectively with program personnel. The Quality Engineer's impact will contribute to completion of milestones associated with assigned programs.

The Engineer will ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, and sector/division/business unit policies and procedures, while contributing to the project's effective process implementation.

Tasks may include:

  • Assuring the quality of software engineering and test verification activities

  • Participating in software development and test peer reviews.

  • Independently assessing program risks, cost, and schedule

  • Conducting process and product audits.

  • Collaborating with supplier quality assurance to ensure supplier compliance.

  • Collaborate with program stakeholders to collect and submit updates to program corrective and preventive actions.

  • Collecting quality related metrics and conducting trend analysis for reporting to management.

This requisition may be filled at a T2/T3 level based on the requirements listed below.

Basic Qualifications for a Software Quality Engineer 2:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field

  • Two (2)+ years of relevant experience (0+ years with a Master's)

  • General understanding of software development

  • General understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and AS9100D industry standards for software development programs

  • Current TS/SCI clearance

Basic Qualifications for a Software Quality Engineer 3:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field

  • Five (5)+ years of relevant experience (3+ years with a Master's, 0+ years with a PhD)

  • Good understanding of software development

  • Good understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and AS9100D industry standards for software development programs

  • Current TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate software work products and occasional hardware specifications for quality compliance

  • Experience supporting an agile and/or DevOps development environment

  • AS9100 auditing experience and/or auditor training

  • Six Sigma Green/Black belt certification

  • Supplier QMS assessments

  • Experience using JIRA, Git, BitBucket and/or SonarQube

  • Familiar with big data analysis methodologies and metrics collection

  • Familiar with software security and information assurance fundamentals
