Northrop Grumman Test Engineer (level 2 or 3) in Annapolis, Maryland

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Test Engineer to support the Test Operations Team at its Undersea Systems Division in Annapolis, MD. The successful candidate will possess an interest in Test Engineering and have a background in a variety of testing activities in a technologically advanced environment.

The Test Engineer will interface with multiple business areas within the Undersea Systems portfolio and support all manner of testing that is required for producing a wide array of underwater sensors and systems. A strong aptitude for interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines is required to support the development, integration, and testing of development, prototype, and production hardware.

As a Test Engineer at Undersea Systems , you will be required to engage regularly with electrical testing using a variety of instruments, automated electrical testing using specialized test equipment, hydrostatic pressure testing, environmental stress screening for temperature and vibration, mechanical testing, fiber optic testing, and acoustic testing. The Test Engineer's activities will range from design of tests and fixtures, to hands-on testing, to analysis of failure trends, to project management, and root cause / corrective action.

Roles and responsibilities of the Test Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment

  • Troubleshoots and supports Production and Engineering hardware

  • Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements

  • Supports technicians through troubleshoot and training

  • Analyzes test data and identifies early trends

  • Supports program meetings in developing root cause and corrective actions

  • Collaborates with design engineering to develop and implement hardware improvements and solutions

The successful candidate will possess analytical skills to review requirements, test plans, and test scenarios. He or she will have the ability to effectively communicate and work with manufacturing, test engineering, and design engineering personnel. He/she should also be self-directed, organized, team oriented and have previous experience with MS Office

tools.

This job may be filled at a level 2 or a level 3 based on the qualifications below.

MANUMS

Basic Qualifications for a level 2:

BS degree or higher in a STEM Field

2 years of related experience (0 years with an MS degree)

Experience with electrical test equipment (scopes, power meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator)

Familiarity with basic concepts of electrical circuit design and troubleshooting

Familiarity with basic concepts of mechanical design

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance

Proficient in the use of MS Office Products

Basic Qualifications for a level 3:

BS degree or higher in a STEM Field

5 years of related experience (3 years with an MS degree)

Experience with electrical test equipment (scopes, power meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator)

Familiarity with basic concepts of electrical circuit design and troubleshooting

Familiarity with basic concepts of mechanical design

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance

Proficient in the use of MS Office Products

Preferred Qualifications:

MS degree in a STEM Field

Experience with the use, build, and/or testing of sonar systems

Experience with testing of fiber optics cables and devices

Experience with National Instruments products, specifically Lab View

Active Top Secret Clearance
