Northrop Grumman Staff Strategic Planner in Annapolis, Maryland
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Staff Strategic Planner to join the Maritime/Land System and Sensors' (MLSS) Strategic Growth organization, reporting to the Division Director of Strategy, Investment and Integration. The selected applicant will become a trusted member of a team responsible for developing and managing the Division's investment portfolio, providing relevant financial and strategic analyses to senior management, coordinating investment plans with cross-functional teams, leading market and competitive assessments, and enabling MLSS' core objectives through the innovative and strategy-driven application of assessments and investment. The Strategic Planner will have a strong understanding of the key value drivers and industry dynamics of the Aerospace and Defense industry with an emphasis on the maritime domain, the ability to self-start in a fast-paced organization, and the skills to evaluate and assess investment priorities and options in order to optimally shape the MLSS portfolio. The successful candidate supports the Division Strategy Director and the MLSS Business Units to develop portfolio strategies that best position MLSS for long-term value creation .
Key Responsibilities include:
Conduct strategic assessments of financial plans, markets, competitors, pipeline, etc. to support the development and shaping of the Division's multi-year investment portfolio in alignment with overall Division and Sector strategy
Support new development and maintenance of capabilities, strategic frameworks, and tools to prioritize, de-emphasize, shape, and manage the overall portfolio
Develop and administer multi-year investment plans on a continuous, agile planning cadence
Use quantitative methods including modeling to assess investment scenarios, proactively manage investment execution, and to support decision making
Support financial and business case analyses of proposed Business Unit investments across the Division
Develop presentations/briefings to executive leadership and senior stakeholders
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with a minimum of 13 years relevant experience
Knowledge of, and experience in, strategic assessment, strategy development, and financial analysis
Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail, strong work ethic, and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates executive presence when interacting with all levels of the organization
Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, analytical, and critical thinking skills
Strong business acumen; ability to clearly communicate recommendations and analysis to senior level leadership
Experience working with cross functional teams
U.S. Citizenship
Able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of experience in strategic planning, portfolio development, and/or strategic assessment
Strategy and data analytics experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry
Experience in data analytics and visualization, including relevant tools, languages, and environments (e.g. Tableau, Qlik, R, Python, SQL, etc.)
Experience making venture capital and/or sophisticated investment allocation decisions
Current active DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance
