Northrop Grumman Engineer Mechanical 3 in Annapolis, Maryland

Northrop Grumman Electronics Sector Marine Systems (NGES-MS) is seeking a senior level Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This position leads mechanical design of missile launcher systems and the components, and test equipment that are needed to support development and testing of next generation submarine missile launchers.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Conduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirements

  • Conduct first order structural and kinematic analysis to support equipment design

  • Oversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practices

  • Identify procurement needs and support fabrication

  • Provide assembly checkout and test support

  • Generate task plans and support proposal efforts

  • Lead a small group of engineers to execute established plans

Some travel to test sites will be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSME with 5 years minimum experience as a mechanical design engineer, or MSME with 3 years minimum experience

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Solid background in machine design and drawing generation

  • Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established schedule

  • Ability to lead a team of up to 3-7 engineers

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge in GD&T and solid modeling NX, previous leadership role highly desired.
