One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. MDA is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer to join our team and develop these technologies into high-performance computing systems. You’ll work in a fast-paced team environment alongside physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to make these technologies a reality.
Principal/Sr. Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
Support integration and setup of process control tools, including Fault Detection and Classification (FDC), Advanced Process Control (APC), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and a Recipe Management System (RMS), for a new superconducting electronics wafer fabrication line.
Maintain awareness of process control integration/setup schedule and proactively escalate issues to team lead as required.
Create acceptance test plans with the team based off inputs from the process engineering organization.
Perform requirements elicitation and collaborate with process engineers on initial setup of process control modules.
Apply systems engineering best practices, principles, and concepts to architectures within a manufacturing context.
Work collaboratively with other engineering team members.
This position requires full time work onsite at our Linthicum, MD OR Annapolis Junction, MD location.
This position can be filled at the Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer or Sr. Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer level. Qualifications for each level below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
Experience executing Statement of Work (SOW) components with vendors and work cross team.
Willing to work in a Class 100 cleanroom environment for a specified period to support machine-related software check out, System Integration Testing, etc.
Familiarity with SPC and 6-sigma concepts for process development.
Strong skills in problem solving / troubleshooting.
Has worked with process quality systems such as FDC, APC, SPC, and/or RMS.
Understands engineering control plans used to ensure quality of process and tool health.
Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required.
This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.

Preferred Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer and Sr. Principal Manufacturing Data & Statistics Systems Engineer:
Active TS/SCI with poly security clearance per business requirements.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Data Science, or Systems Engineering with 9+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with modern automated quality systems in a semiconductor or microelectronics fab.
Deep understanding of advanced process control systems such as FDC, APC, SPC, RMS, automated data collection, etc.
Experience with SECS/GEM communication protocol.
Experience in semiconductor manufacturing lines and/or R&D microelectronics manufacturing.
Experience if new fab or factory systems startups.
Knowledge of statistical methods and tools (e.g., JMP, SPACE), Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus.
Has worked with Applied Materials SmartFactory Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) solution.

Salary Range: $102,400 - $160,900
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
