At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.
The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Microelectronics Center pushes the boundaries of innovation. It redefines the leading edge of exotic new technologies and drives advancements in systems and the sciences. One of our most challenging fields of development is in Microelectronics Design and Applications. You will be part of a team consisting of a broad array of scientists and engineers working to make these novel solutions a reality.
We are seeking motivated experimental scientists to help us develop next generation superconducting electronics (SCE) technologies with a focus on the applications to analog neuromorphic networks and machine learning. We are a collaborative and hard-working team that strives to foster a culture of belonging, mentorship, and personal growth. We are passionate about creating innovative solutions to exciting challenges. As a member of our team, you will work on test design, device characterization, automation of data acquisition hardware in MATLAB and Python, experimental test stand improvement, analysis, presentation of data to multi-disciplinary teams, and cross-collaboration with the theory, design, simulation, and fabrication teams!
Successful candidates have some of the following:
Experience with solving complex problems.
Development and implementation of test protocols for novel experiments involving superconducting devices.
Experience with thermal, mechanical, and electrical isolation techniques.
Experience with RF, analog, or digital signal electronics.
Experience debugging existing software tools and implementing new capabilities.
Experience supporting the development of test platforms with function, cost, and schedule constraints.
Experience analyzing complex datasets, comparing data to simulation, and reporting on results.
Experience with RF test equipment such as: Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, arbitrary waveform generators.
Curiosity is the backbone of many technological improvements; Curiosity about new topics in physics, material science, computing technologies and low power electronics is vital for continuing to improve burgeoning technologies. We expect our candidates are excited to learn about:
Superconducting electronics, electronic device design.
Neural network theory, neuromorphic computing and more generally machine learning theory.
Low-temperature and materials science.
